Electricity - Paid Locally.
Please read the electricity when you arrive, and remember to leave the same amount in credit when leaving. It is credited at the Spar Shop using the Meter Key. (Average £15-30 for the weekend). Full instructions are in the kitchen. If it is in minus credit when you arrive please let us know.
Please take care not to lose the key(on a big cat keyring), it is the only one and costs £30 to replace.
Water Heater
There are 2 switches in the airing cupboard, please switch these on ASAP on arrival to allow the water time to heat up
Bins
Bins are emptied very early Wednesday morning, Please put at the end of the drive on Tuesday evening before collection (they arrive very early). The recycling bin is emptied weekly, and the waste bins every three weeks. There are details on top of the fridge in the cottage, or follow neighbours lead! Please recycle as much as possible using the guideline, including food waste (food waste bon provided inside and out), this is very important due to the general waste only being emptied three-weekly now!

Heating
There is a cast iron calor gas mobile heater. You are welcome to use this, but please replace empty cylinders.
-
Please do not leave this heater on when you leave the cottage.
-
Please ensure you have fully connected the valve, we suggest you do not use this if you are unsure of the valve connection or lighting mechanism.
-
Please do not place this heater too close to curtains or furniture.

The plug for the bathroom heater is in the double bedroom upstairs, as is the outside light. Please turn these off before you leave to conserve electricity.

General Information and Polite requests
BBQ
There is a BBQ by the shed. You are welcome to use this. Please line the base with foil before use, and clean thoroughly
after use.
Protecting the leather sofa!
No shoes on the leather sofa, please! Please also be aware of jeans studs and buckles. There are throws in the footstool.
No pets on any of the furniture, please. Please do not leave your pet in the cottage unattended.
Fridge
If this is on when you arrive, leave it on when you leave. It is generally only turned off over winter when the cottage is not in use for a while. If you leave it turned off, please wedge open with a tea towel.
Food Supplies
You are welcome to use anything in the cupboards, sauces etc. If you use it all, please replace.
Bedding
Please bring your own bedding and towels.
Bedding packs are now available from our cleaning service and can be arranged directly with the cleaner. Let us know if you are interested in this service and we will give you the contact number.
You can use our bedding by arrangement, but this must be washed and ironed before leaving.
We would prefer now if our bedding was not sent to the cleaner’s laundry, as unfortunately, they have lost some of our sets.
Cleaning
To maintain a good consistent standard of cleaning, and in view of the fact that the cottage is not checked between guests, cleaning is done by a professional cleaning service, and the charge is included in the booking fee. Please leave the cottage tidy when you leave.
Please wipe up any water/spills on the wooden floor immediately. No outdoor shoes upstairs or unsupervised drinks for children, please.

Garden
The cleaners do not tidy the garden, so please leave the tables and chairs tidy, and brush the patio. Leave it for the next guest as you would like to find it.

Arrival/Departure times
Please aim to arrive after 4.00pm, unless we have let you know no one is there before you, in which case you may be able to arrive in the morning.
We will try to let you know if there is a delay in cleaning that may affect your arrival time
Please aim to depart by 09.00 am.

Payment
A bank transfer is ideal, we also accept cheques. A 25% Deposit is payable on booking with full payment the week before, or on collection of the key if directly from us.
We can arrange a BACS Transfer
Finally
There is a file of cottage information under the coffee table and a quick checklist on the side of the fridge.
We hope you don’t find these instructions too restrictive, but we take great pride in our second home and trust you will take care of it.
Have a nice stay.
